Daily Agenda Slides: Simplify How Students Find Daily Assignments

Happy Friday! You have officially survived another week of virtual, hybrid, or in person teaching!

All of September I am bringing you a tip or tool to use during distance learning. This week we are talking about all things Daily Agenda Slides!

Daily Agenda Slides are an idea I got as I scrolled through Instagram and saw what different teachers were doing to make the burden of virtual learning less stressful. Daily agenda slides are where I lay out all of the independent assignments students will need to complete each day.

How I use Daily Agenda Slides:

The first slide includes my extremely simple virtual classroom. Side note, it’s the only time I have used a virtual classroom and honestly, it’s all I can mentally handle. But if you’re into making a crazy, interactive virtual classroom, do it!

Anyway, the first slide links to all the other slides.

As you can see from the picture above, the only thing I have linked on this slide is each daily slide. Everything else in the virtual classroom is just for looks. When creating this for your students it is important to keep it as simple as possible. It needs to be user friendly and utilize visuals.

What is included in the Daily Agenda Slides?

Every single thing students need to do during their independent work time. You can even include things they will need to use during instruction, just be sure to label what is for instruction only because you will have students who want to get assignments done early.

How do I set up each day on the Daily Agenda Slides?

I separate out all of their assignments by subject. When students complete their independent work they have the choice to complete the assignments in any order they want. When it is laid out for them by subject, they can easily decide what they want to do first and what they want to save for later.

Another game changing idea I got from Instagram is to highlight anything that is linked. I link anything from Google Classroom assignments to FlipGrids to videos. If there is a link, it's highlighted.

How do you link Google Classroom assignments?

Linking Google Classroom assignments is super simple. The only thing is, you cannot link a scheduled assignment. The assignment must be posted in order to link to the Daily Agenda Slides. I schedule everything to post on the same day and then I can quickly go through and link the assignments to the Daily Agenda Slides.

To link Google Classroom Assignments, you will find the assignment on the classwork tab, click on the three dots on the right of the assignment, and click on the copy link option. That’s it! Then the link is copied and you can attach it to the Daily Agenda Slides.

Why use Daily Agenda Slides when you can just post everything in google classroom?

When you link assignments directly for students they do not have to search through Google Classroom. You are getting rid of the “I looked and I can’t find the assignment” saga that is sure to happen (it will still happen with daily agenda slides, but it will happen less). Daily Agenda Slides gets rid of excuses! You want to make sure you have taken every possible step to minimize confusion and maximize the student's ability to be successful.
